Deputy Minister Kenny Morolong has expressed concern over the influx of illegally imported second-hand vehicles in South Africa, which number over half a million and contribute to tax losses of R5 billion to R8 billion annually for the South African Revenue Service. This illegal trade threatens local manufacturing and the New Energy Vehicle sector. Morolong emphasized the need for collaboration through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to enhance local production. He also highlighted the automotive industry's resilience, noting its significant contribution to GDP and its alignment with the Automotive Master Plan 2035, which targets an annual production of 1.4 million vehicles....
