MMG approves Khoemacau copper mine expansion in Botswana...

MMG Ltd has approved the expansion of Botswana’s Khoemacau Copper Mine, aiming to increase copper production to 130,000 tonnes per year with over 4 million ounces of associated silver. The $900 million project includes extending mining to new deposits and constructing a 4.5 million-tonne-per-year processing plant, raising total milling capacity above 8 million tonnes annually. First copper concentrate is expected by early 2028, with projected costs falling below $1.60 per pound. The mine also has potential to expand further to 200,000 tonnes per year, with a pre-feasibility study planned for 2026. In June 2025, JCHX Mining Management secured a five-year, $805 million contract for underground mining operations at the site.... More
