Aqaba port maintains operations as cargo vessels dock

By: Logistics Middle east

Operations at Jordan’s Aqaba Port are continuing without disruption, with port authorities confirming normal cargo flows and steady vessel traffic despite heightened regional developments.

The Aqaba Company for Ports Operation and Management reports that maritime activity remains stable, with multiple vessels currently alongside handling key bulk and general cargo shipments.

Cargo activity continues

Mahmoud Khleifat, Director-General of the Aqaba Company for Ports Operation and Management, indicates that six vessels are presently docked at the port carrying a range of strategic commodities.

The cargoes include barley, coal, and iron, reflecting ongoing supply chain flows that support industrial and food security requirements across Jordan’s domestic market.

Data released through the Jordan News Agency Petra records continued vessel calls at the Red Sea gateway, highlighting the port’s role as the country’s primary maritime trade corridor.

Khleifat also identifies additional vessels scheduled to arrive in the coming days carrying vehicle shipments and livestock cargoes destined for the Jordanian market.

Supply chain continuity

Aqaba Port serves as Jordan’s sole seaport and functions as a critical logistics hub connecting the Levant to international shipping networks across the Red Sea and beyond.

Port authorities confirm that shipping movements into Aqaba remain unaffected by recent international developments, allowing the port to maintain stable throughput levels across its cargo terminals.

Khleifat explains that the port authority maintains a comprehensive emergency and contingency framework designed to safeguard maritime logistics and ensure uninterrupted supply chain access into Jordan.

This operational framework includes coordination with shipping lines, terminal operators, and logistics providers to maintain cargo flows and protect essential imports.

Aqaba’s geographic position on the Red Sea shipping corridor continues to support its role as a reliable gateway for regional trade, with port management emphasising its reputation for operational stability and secure maritime access.
