Egyptian group shortlisted for Oman’s $6bn energy projects

By: AGBI

An Egyptian consortium is one of four shortlisted by the state-backed Petroleum Development Oman to bid for its $6 billion project portfolio.

The consortium comprises Petroleum Projects and Technical Consultations Company (Petrojet) and the Engineering for the Petroleum and Process Industries Company (Enppi), Egypt’s petroleum ministry said.

The deal will enable Egyptian companies to support the expansion of the energy sector across the GCC by increasing exports of engineering and technical services, the ministry said.

No details were provided on PDO’s project pipeline.

In June PDO awarded a $355 million design-and-construction contract for gas-drilling facilities in the southern energy outpost of the Gulf state to Egypt’s Enppi, which is 97 percent owned by the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation.

The sultanate has awarded projects worth OMR363 million ($940 million) as part of efforts to boost growth and spark job creation in 2026.

PDO, the biggest hydrocarbons explorer and producer in Oman, is pumping an average of 990,000 barrels per day of oil and condensate.

It is co-owned by the government of Oman (60 percent), British oil major Shell (34 percent), France’s TotalEnergies (4 percent) and Germany’s Partex (2 percent).
