NTPC held discussions with Africa50 to explore collaboration opportunities in Africa’s power sector, the company said.

The meeting between NTPC Chairman and Managing Director Gurdeep Singh and Africa50 Chief Executive Officer Alain Ebobisse focused on the joint development of power projects across the continent, including coal, gas, solar, wind and floating solar.

Both sides also discussed potential cooperation in enabling power trading across African markets and considered the possibility of a broader framework agreement covering multiple areas of engagement in the energy sector.

The discussions followed a meeting chaired by India’s power minister on strengthening India–Africa cooperation in the sector.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Bharat Electricity Summit 2026, held from March 19 to 22 at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi under the aegis of the Ministry of Power.

NTPC said the engagement aligns with its strategy to expand international partnerships and support energy development in emerging markets.
