Ethiopia and China have strengthened industrial ties through a 2025 matchmaking event in Addis Ababa, aimed at aligning Chinese expertise with Ethiopia's goal to become a manufacturing hub. The collaboration is supported by the BRICS freight air route between Xiamen and Addis Ababa, which has facilitated $750 million in trade over two years. The partnership focuses on sectors like manufacturing, mining, and digitalization. A key outcome was a cooperation agreement to help Chinese and other BRICS enterprises access the Ethiopian market more easily.
