Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed today inaugurated the Assela Wind Farm, a major renewable energy project adding 100 megawatts to Ethiopia’s national grid.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Prime Minister described the project as “the next ray of hope,” underscoring Ethiopia’s growing investment in clean and sustainable energy.

 “The project adds 100 megawatts of clean energy, strengthening our path toward a diversified and sustainable energy future,” PM Abiy said, noting that it reflects the country’s commitment to ensuring reliable power supply and fostering economic growth.

In his social media post, he emphasized that Ethiopia’s continued investments in renewable energy are part of broader national efforts to drive development across sectors.

 “Ethiopia’s progress will continue to advance and flourish, and the time when we will be greater than ever before is not far off,” the Prime Minister added.

The Assela Wind Farm is expected to play a significant role in enhancing Ethiopia’s renewable energy capacity and supporting its long-term development agenda.
