Ongwe Minerals Launches Two-Rig Drilling Campaign at Nguni Gold Prospect

By: OrePulse

TSX-V-listed Ongwe Minerals has deployed two drill rigs at its newly discovered Nguni gold prospect in Namibia, part of the company's broader Omatjete gold project.

Nguni is located 17 kilometers east of Ongwe's Manga gold discovery and roughly 55 kilometers east of Kokoseb. The company first identified the prospect back in May, during a regional soil sampling campaign focused on the Okondeka Fault Zone, which turned up a large, high-grade gold-in-soil anomaly.

The current drilling campaign involves two rigs, each assigned a different objective. A diamond drill rig will test the richest portions of the soil anomaly, with 18 holes planned across a combined 3,500 meters. Meanwhile, a reverse-circulation rig will target the anomaly's strike extension through 13 additional holes covering 1,500 meters. Between the two rigs, the company expects to complete roughly 5,000 meters of drilling at Nguni.

In a separate but related effort, Ongwe has also mapped out a five-hole, 1,000-meter diamond drilling program to test the eastern strike extension of the nearby Manga prospect — an area that similarly shows gold anomalies in both soil and bedrock.

According to the company, the goal is to move quickly on Nguni, combining detailed surface studies with active drilling in hopes of establishing it as a meaningful economic discovery. This program builds on Ongwe's growing exploration presence along the Okondeka Fault Zone, a geological structure the company considers promising across several targets within the broader Omatjete project. With both rigs now operating simultaneously across the Nguni and Manga areas, Ongwe is working to expand its drill coverage as it awaits upcoming assay results.
