Africa is rapidly investing in digital infrastructure—such as data centers, fiber networks, and smart grids—to support AI-ready energy systems and accelerate its energy transition. Initiatives like the Digital Energy Challenge and new data-center projects in Senegal and Kenya demonstrate how digital solutions are enhancing grid performance, renewable integration, and cost efficiency. However, substantial financing and supportive regulatory frameworks are still needed to scale these technologies across the continent. The upcoming Invest in African Energy 2026 Forum in Paris will focus on mobilizing investment to build the resilient digital backbone required for Africa’s next-generation energy ecosystems....
