Vivo Energy Namibia Appoints Johan Grobbelaar New Managing Director
Johan Grobbelaar has taken on the role of Managing Director at Vivo Energy Namibia, effective from 1 December 2025. A Namibian national with more than 25 years of industry experience, Grobbelaar previously served as Vice President for Specialties at Vivo Energy, where he oversaw the company’s liquefied petroleum gas, aviation, marine, and chemicals businesses across 28 African markets.
His earlier leadership roles include Managing Director positions for Vivo Energy’s operations in Uganda, Zimbabwe, and Namibia. Prior to joining Vivo Energy in 2013, Grobbelaar spent around 13 years with British American Tobacco in senior management capacities in Namibia and Zambia.
Vivo Energy Namibia is responsible for distributing and marketing Shell-branded fuels and lubricants in the country. The company was established in 2012, though the Shell brand has been present in Namibia since 1975. The wider Vivo Energy Group operates across 28 African markets, managing over 3,900 service stations under the Shell and Engen brands, and offers a range of fuel, lubricant, and non-fuel services.
