ENOC Group advances critical energy infrastructure in East Africa
The Acting CEO of ENOC Group, Hussain Sultan Lootah, has wrapped up a high-level diplomatic and business mission to East Africa, aimed at bolstering energy infrastructure cooperation in Djibouti and Ethiopia. The visit underscored ENOC’s strategic focus on advancing storage capacity, terminal operations, and logistics connectivity across the region.
In Djibouti, Lootah held talks with President Ismail Omar Guelleh, commending the country’s infrastructure progress and discussing plans to accelerate the expansion of critical fuel storage facilities. He also met with Djibouti’s Minister of Energy, Dr. Yonis Ali Guedi, reaffirming ENOC’s support for national development through its subsidiary, Horizon Djibouti Terminals Limited (HDTL).
In Addis Ababa, discussions with Ethiopian Energy and Finance Ministers, along with leaders from the Ethiopian Petroleum Supply Enterprise and Ethiopian Investment Holdings, resulted in the establishment of a joint task force and a framework for rate determination to facilitate smoother energy logistics. The parties agreed to regular task force meetings to drive progress.
Lootah emphasized that the visit reflects ENOC’s commitment to sustainable regional development, social impact, and enhancing energy security. An accompanying delegation also toured the AMG Holding plant at the invitation of Ethio-Djibouti Railways, gaining operational insights relevant to HDTL’s rail-loading projects. The engagements signal ENOC’s growing role as an infrastructure partner in East Africa’s energy landscape.
