Africa Global Logistics' Gabon unit said it moved two oversized industrial units weighing a combined 342 tonnes to the site of a 40 MW gas-fired power plant in Port-Gentil, as part of a project announced October 8.
The two units, weighing 176 tonnes and 166 tonnes respectively, were transported using a high-capacity hydraulic modular trailer, AGL Gabon said, following detailed technical studies and the use of high-capacity cranes for lifting.
Separately, AGL Gabon said it delivered more than 480 tonnes of ammonium nitrate, a hazardous material, from Malaga, Spain, to a mining client in the country, using 26 truck rotations across four convoys. The company said adverse weather briefly halted unloading but that the delivery was completed within contract deadlines.
AGL Gabon country general manager Patrick Gerenthon said the power-plant equipment move demonstrated the company's commitment to "secure, integrated logistics solutions" in Central Africa.
Branch manager Benjamin Foquereau said the ammonium nitrate delivery could open further opportunities for specialized logistics services in Gabon.
AGL Gabon employs about 1,100 people and provides port handling, shipping agency, transit logistics and customs services in the country. It is part of Africa Global Logistics, formerly known as Bolloré Africa Logistics before Mediterranean Shipping Company's parent, the MSC Group, acquired the business in 2022.
Gabon is among the world's leading manganese producers and also exports oil, with mining and energy projects in the country frequently requiring specialized heavy-lift and hazardous-cargo logistics support of the kind AGL Gabon said it provided in these two operations.
