Jordan signs EPC contract for Masdar-backed wind power project

By: Utilities Middle East

Jordan’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) has signed an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for a 25-megawatt (MW) wind power project in the Batn Al Ghul area of Ma’an Governorate.

The agreement was signed between Samra Electric Power Generation Company (SEPCO) and Al Mawakea General Contracting Technology Company, which will execute the project.

The wind farm is being developed under a co-operation agreement signed in February 2026 between MEMR and Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar).

The UAE government, represented by Masdar, will provide full financing for the development.

Once construction is completed and the facility has been officially handed over, SEPCO will be responsible for operating and maintaining the wind farm.

The project will expand Jordan’s renewable energy capacity while building on SEPCO’s existing experience in operating wind power assets in Ma’an Governorate.

SEPCO currently operates and maintains an 80MW wind farm in the governorate on behalf of the Jordanian government.

The latest development also strengthens energy co-operation between Jordan and the UAE, while supporting efforts to increase the contribution of renewable power to Jordan’s electricity system.
