South Africa Targets 1,164km of New Transmission Lines
South Africa’s Ministry of Electricity and Energy has announced plans to procure up to 1,164 km of 400 kV transmission lines to strengthen the country’s power distribution.
The infrastructure will extend across the Northern Cape, North-West and Gauteng provinces and is part of the Integrated Resources Plan and the 2024 Transmission Development Plan – energy and power strategies designed to expand the grid.
The lines will be procured from independent transmission providers through tenders released and managed by the Ministry of Electricity and Energy. Once completed, the National Transmission Company
