The Middle East, led by Saudi Arabia and the UAE, is rapidly shifting from pilot programs to giga-scale deployments of battery storage to support its energy transition. This boom is driven by declining costs and strong policy, positioning the GCC as a top global market for the technology. These large-scale projects are primarily financed through non-recourse project models, where lenders rely on the project's own revenue. Financial stability is secured via long-term contracts with state-backed entities, which guarantee predictable cash flows. Consequently, this established funding structure and secure revenue mitigate risk and strengthen the investment case for utility-scale batteries in the region....
