Morocco probes alleged dumping of Egyptian and UAE steel wire
Morocco has started an investigation into the alleged dumping by Egyptian and Emirati producers of galvanised steel wire used in agriculture and industry, according to local media.
The investigation comes after Moroccan companies complained that Egyptian and UAE steel wire is being dumped at below market rates in the Moroccan market, Morocco World News reported.
The industry and trade ministry examined imports of galvanised steel wire between January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2024.
The dumping margin remained high, exceeding a legal threshold, the report said.
Imports of the wire surged from 112 tonnes to 14,699 tonnes between 2020 and September 2024, causing a decline in local producers’ market share, the report said.
