Africa Global Logistics has appointed Édouard Leno as chief executive of Conakry Terminal, which holds the concession for the container terminal at the Autonomous Port of Conakry in Guinea, the company said.

Leno previously held senior roles at AGL in Nigeria, Congo and Senegal, most recently serving as the company's regional chief financial officer. He also has a background in consultancy and financial auditing, according to AGL.

Conakry Terminal is targeting growth to one million containers handled annually, AGL said, as part of a wider push to improve service quality and operational performance at the Guinean port.

AGL, formerly known as Bolloré Africa Logistics before Mediterranean Shipping Company's parent group, the MSC Group, acquired the business in 2022, operates port terminals, transport corridors and logistics services across many African countries.

The Autonomous Port of Conakry is Guinea's principal maritime gateway, handling container and general cargo traffic for a country whose exports include bauxite and other minerals. Container terminal operators along West Africa's coast have in recent years invested in capacity upgrades as regional trade volumes have grown.

AGL's operations in Guinea and elsewhere in the region support trade flows that include imports and exports tied to the mining sector, alongside general container and cargo traffic.
