CMA CGM completes 49% buy-in to Nador port terminal in Morocco
By: OrePulse
CMA CGM's subsidiary CMA Terminals has completed its acquisition of a 49% stake in Nador Container Terminal at Morocco's Nador West Med port, the shipping line said, finalizing a partnership agreement the companies first signed in October 2025.
Moroccan port operator Marsa Maroc will retain the remaining 51% of the terminal, located on Morocco's Mediterranean coast. The transaction closed after clearing regulatory approval.
CMA Terminals holds the concession for the facility, which is being developed with a 900-meter quay and an 18-meter depth across 37.5 hectares of container-handling and storage space. Once built out, the terminal is designed to handle up to 1.8 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) of cargo annually. Operations are scheduled to begin in 2027.
Nador West Med is a deepwater port complex Morocco has developed on its northern Mediterranean coast. The stake purchase gives CMA CGM, one of the world's largest container shipping lines, direct equity in a terminal there as the company continues to expand its global network of port and terminal holdings alongside its shipping operations.
