Malawi Approves Exploration License for Wozi Nobium Project

By: Energy capital & power

Malawi’s Mining and Minerals Regulatory Authority has granted Australian mining company Kula Gold an exploration license for the Wozi Niobium Project.

The license enables Kula Gold to launch its maiden drilling program in December 2025, verifying historical trenching data for niobium and tantalum, as well as assessing the potential for expanding the project area. Trenching conducted by previous operator Mantra Resources indicated promising surface niobium mineralization and large-scale development potential.

“Kula had identified the Wozi Niobium Project as a very interesting high impact, low-cost niobium opportunity to add to the Company’s portfolio,” stated Ric Dawson, Managing Director of Kula Gold.

The license covers a total area of approximately 5.52km2 and is located 225km north of Malawi’s capital Lilongwe.
