Implats expects increase in full-year basic EPS, but lower HEPS

Headline earnings and HEPS for the period are expected to decrease by between 63% and 79% year-on-year.

Both headline and basic earnings are expected to be between R500-million and R900-million, while BEPS and HEPS are expected to be between 56c apiece and 100c.

In the prior period, the group reported headline earnings of R2.4-billion, HEPS of 269c, a basic loss of R17.3-billion and a basic loss a share of 1 929c.

Basic earnings in the prior period were significantly impacted on by impairments of R19.8-billion, equivalent to 2 204c apiece (post-tax).

The weighted average number of shares in issue for the period increased to 897.45-million from 897.36-million in the prior period.

Implats will release its results for the period on August 28.

The company’s operations are on the Bushveld Complex in South Africa, the Great Dyke in Zimbabwe and the Canadian Shield.
