Human Rights Watch has called for Zambian authorities to investigate a significant acid spill from Sino-Metals Leach into the Kafue River, which occurred on February 18. The spill caused extensive environmental damage, including soil contamination, the death of aquatic life and livestock, and ruined crops, severely impacting around 500 farmers. Affected residents have also reported numerous health issues from consuming contaminated water and food. HRW condemned the government's inadequate response and demanded an expert inquiry into the health risks, comprehensive remediation, farmer compensation, and stricter acidification controls from the company....
