UAE raises petrol prices, keeps diesel unchanged for May 2026
The UAE announced on Thursday the petrol and diesel prices for May 2026 as global volatility in energy prices persists amid tensions in the region and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
With the aim of bolstering support for vital sectors and ensuring the stability of transportation and supply chains, the price of diesel in the UAE will remain unchanged for the month of May, with a limited update to petrol prices.
Diesel prices in the UAE will remain unchanged at AED4.69 per liter.
Meanwhile, the price of Super 98 petrol will rise to AED3.66 per liter, up from AED3.39 per liter in April.
Special 95 petrol will be priced at AED3.55 per liter, compared to AED3.28 last month.
E-Plus 91 will cost AED3.48 per liter, up from the AED3.20 recorded in April.
The monthly revision is part of the UAE’s policy to align domestic fuel rates with international market trends.
The decision came as oil prices climbed above $124 a barrel on Thursday following reports that the United States is weighing possible military action against Iran in an effort to break the stalemate in talks to end the conflict, heightening fears of further disruptions to already constrained Middle East supply.
Brent crude futures surged by $6.22, or 5.27 percent, to $124.3 a barrel, after rising 6.1 percent in the previous session. Meanwhile, U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures rose $2.38, or 2.23 percent, to $109.30 a barrel, after jumping 7 percent in the previous session and posting gains in eight of the past nine sessions.
Both benchmarks are now set to record a fourth consecutive month of increases.
