DP World names Ahmad Al Hassan CEO and MD for the GCC

By: Logistics Middle east

DP World has appointed Ahmad Yousef Al Hassan as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director for the GCC, assigning him responsibility for an integrated portfolio of ports, terminals, economic zones, digital platforms, and logistics operations across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Upper Gulf markets.

The appointment expands Al Hassan’s remit across one of DP World’s most strategically significant regions.

The company operates major maritime and logistics infrastructure in the GCC, including the flagship Jebel Ali Port in Dubai, one of the world’s largest container hubs and a critical gateway for regional trade.

Al Hassan will guide regional strategy, commercial performance, and supply chain integration as DP World strengthens end to end logistics services that connect maritime gateways, inland freight corridors, and digital trade solutions.

Leadership transition

The leadership change follows the appointment of Abdulla Bin Damithan as Chairman of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation in February 2026.

Al Hassan previously served as Chief Financial Officer for DP World GCC between 2021 and 2026. During that period he oversaw financial planning and operational efficiency programmes across regional terminals and logistics assets.

His professional experience spans more than 23 years across international financial and logistics markets, including senior assignments in Dubai, Washington DC, London, and Hong Kong.

DP World identifies expertise in treasury management, banking, infrastructure investment, and logistics finance as key elements of his background.

Since joining DP World in 2010, Al Hassan has held several senior positions across the organisation.
These roles include Group Treasury leadership responsibilities, business development functions, Deputy CFO at London Gateway in the United Kingdom, and CFO for DP World’s Asia Pacific operations in Hong Kong.

He currently holds board positions within several logistics and infrastructure companies in the UAE and Oman. Previous board appointments also covered DP World business units operating in South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines.

Operational continuity

Al Hassan explains that the increasing complexity of global trade networks requires integrated logistics platforms that ensure cargo flows remain reliable across international corridors.

He notes that DP World continues to monitor developments affecting shipping activity across the Arabian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.

Ports and terminals in Dubai are operating with enhanced operational coordination and safety protocols to ensure uninterrupted cargo handling.

The company clarifies that container and general cargo terminals at Jebel Ali Port remain fully operational.

Close coordination with UAE authorities, shipping lines, logistics partners, and other regional ports continues to support stable cargo flows and minimise disruption linked to wider maritime route volatility.

DP World’s GCC operations handle millions of tonnes of cargo annually and serve as a central logistics gateway for trade across the Middle East, South Asia, and East Africa.
