Tanzania is transforming Lake Tanganyika into a modern regional trade corridor through major port upgrades and new shipbuilding capacity. A key project is a shipyard constructing four 2,000-tonne vessels to efficiently transport bulk minerals from the DRC. This investment has already increased ship traffic and cargo volumes, with the DRC as the primary user. The modernization aims to lower costs, speed up logistics, enhance security, and support Tanzania’s goal of becoming East Africa’s leading logistics hub, fostering deeper regional economic integration....
