Guinea plans major mining conference in 2026
The government of Guinea, the world's largest exporter of bauxite, announced plans to host the inaugural Simandou Mining Summit in November 2026. The event aims to establish Guinea as a venue for a major global mining conference, following the model of established international forums such as Mining Indaba in South Africa and PDAC in Canada.
According to a presidential statement, the summit will seek to bring together key global stakeholders, including policymakers, international investors, mining companies, financial institutions, and technical partners. The shared objective is to position Guinea's vast mineral potential as a catalyst for "sustainable and inclusive development."
