Kenya has some of Africa's highest fuel prices, ranking in the continent's top ten most expensive markets for both petrol and diesel, which imposes significant costs on consumers and businesses. Its petrol price of $1.421 per litre and diesel at $1.320 are the most expensive within the East African Community, far above neighbors like Tanzania. The high costs are attributed to structural factors like Kenya's tax regime and supply logistics, unlike many larger or oil-producing nations that subsidize fuel.
