Fortuna Q3 GEO output dips, approves 30% Seguela plant expansion
By: OrePulse
Fortuna Mining Corp produced 69,665 gold-equivalent ounces in the third quarter of 2026, down from 72,217 ounces in the second quarter of 2026 and from 72,462 ounces in the third quarter of 2025, the company said in its latest quarterly production update.
Year-to-date production reached 214,754 gold-equivalent ounces through the first nine months of 2026, out of a full-year guidance range the company set at 281,000 to 305,000 gold-equivalent ounces. Fortuna said it remains on track to meet that guidance.
At the company's Séguéla mine in Côte d'Ivoire, third-quarter gold output was 33,744 ounces, down from 41,683 ounces in the second quarter. Fortuna attributed the decline to lower tonnes milled, a lower head grade and lower recovery during the quarter. Nine-month output at Séguéla totaled 117,443 ounces, and the company said the mine remains on track to meet the lower end of its full-year guidance range.
Fortuna also said it has approved a 30% expansion of the processing plant at Séguéla. The company said the expanded plant is intended to support gold production of more than 200,000 ounces a year starting in the second half of 2028.
In Senegal, Fortuna acquired the Bambadji project, a 190-square-kilometer property adjacent to its existing Diamba Sud project. The company said the acquisition adds roughly 60 kilometers of prospective strike length along the Senegal-Mali Shear Zone, a geological structure that runs through both properties.
Fortuna Mining is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker FSM. The company did not disclose the cost of the Séguéla plant expansion or the terms of the Bambadji acquisition in its production update, and it did not break out third-quarter production figures for its other operating mines.
The company said its full-year guidance range, covering all of its operations, remains unchanged following the third-quarter results, with Séguéla specifically tracking toward the lower end of its own mine-level guidance for the year.
The planned expansion at Séguéla would raise the mine's processing capacity by 30% from current levels, according to Fortuna, with the additional capacity intended to help lift the mine toward its targeted run rate of more than 200,000 ounces of gold a year once the expanded plant is operating, beginning in the second half of 2028. The company did not specify the current processing capacity against which the 30% increase is measured, nor did it give a construction timeline for the expansion itself.
At Diamba Sud, the Bambadji acquisition extends Fortuna's land position along the same shear zone structure that hosts its existing exploration target, giving the company a larger continuous area to explore in Senegal. Fortuna did not disclose further exploration plans for the combined Diamba Sud and Bambadji ground in the update.
