DEWA solar design platform usage rises 17% in 2026

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) recorded a 17% increase in the use of its Hab-Reeh smart platform during the first half of 2026 compared with the same period in 2025.

The platform allows consultants and contractors to carry out self-assessments of photovoltaic (PV) solar system designs before submitting them for approval under the Shams Dubai initiative.

DEWA said Hab-Reeh has significantly reduced the time required to assess project designs while increasing the compliance rate of submitted designs with power quality standards to 100%.

The platform has also improved the efficiency and quality of designs during the application stage by allowing potential technical issues to be identified earlier.

“We invest in the latest technologies to streamline and accelerate the work of contractors, consultants and DEWA’s strategic partners, supporting the net-zero transition, diversifying energy sources and increasing reliance on clean and renewable energy,” said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of DEWA.

Al Tayer said Hab-Reeh enables consultants and contractors participating in Shams Dubai to verify the quality of their designs before submission and accelerate approval procedures in line with technical requirements.

He added that the platform supports DEWA’s wider efforts to develop advanced digital solutions, expand solar energy projects and strengthen the sustainability of Dubai’s clean and renewable energy sector.

Hab-Reeh also received a seven-star rating at the International Best Practice Competition.

Al Tayer said the recognition reflected DEWA’s leadership in developing digital solutions that could serve as international benchmarks for accelerating solar project deployment.

Abdulla Al Aghbari, Acting Executive Vice President of Power and Water Planning at DEWA, said the platform allows users to verify whether their designs comply with power quality standards, particularly those relating to harmonic emissions.

Harmonic emissions can cause electrical distortion at customer premises and affect the overall quality of power supplied through the network.

Al Aghbari said identifying these issues during the design stage supports a more reliable, efficient and resilient electricity system.

Early validation can also improve equipment performance and operating life while delivering benefits for both DEWA and its customers.

DEWA has integrated Hab-Reeh with its Getting Solar Permits and Connection service.

The integration allows consultants and contractors to complete harmonic self-assessments and submit designs for approval through a single process.

DEWA said this reduces the time, effort and cost involved in securing approvals while improving the customer experience.

The platform also provides unlimited design options using any combination of solar inverters included in DEWA’s list of approximately 180 approved models.

This allows consultants and contractors to develop tailored systems that reflect the technical requirements of different solar projects.
