Tanzania Targets October Close for $42B LNG Facility Agreement
Tanzania’s government has announced it aims to ratify the terms of a $42 billion LNG facility by October 2025.
According to the country’s Deputy Minister Dr. Doto Biteko, the government is negotiating terms with a consortium comprising energy giants Shell, Equinor and ExxonMobil.
With aims to set the country up as a potential export hub for LNG, Tanzania ’s government aims to ensure 3% of natural gas from the LNG project is reserved for domestic utilization while the consortium commits to local content capacity building.
In addition to the development of the LNG facility, Deputy Minster Biteko also highlighted the need for the country to fast-track development of key natural gas blocks to meet rising regional and international demand.
