QEWC Rebrands as Nebras Energy
Qatar Electricity & Water Company (QEWC) has rebranded as Nebras Energy, marking a significant milestone in the company’s transformation as it looks to strengthen its regional and international energy footprint.
Listed on the Qatar Stock Exchange, the company said the new Nebras Energy brand builds on decades of experience in supplying electricity and water to Qatar, alongside more than ten years of international investment and operations. The rebrand is intended to reflect greater agility, flexibility and a long-term growth strategy.
Established by Amiri Decree No. 58 of 1990, QEWC has been a key pillar of Qatar’s electricity and water security for more than 30 years and has grown into one of the largest utilities companies in the Middle East and North Africa.
His Excellency Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Nebras Energy, said the company’s new identity reflects its future ambitions while building on a strong legacy. He noted that the transition to Nebras Energy signals broader horizons for growth, deeper international partnerships and continued support for sustainable development.
Mohammed Nasser Al-Hajri, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nebras Energy, said the rebranding ensures business continuity while positioning the company for long-term success. He added that all existing stakeholder commitments remain unchanged as the company advances its role in Qatar’s electricity and water sector.
Nebras Energy’s domestic asset portfolio comprises a diversified mix of joint ventures, supported by Nebras Power, its wholly owned international investment arm. Collectively, the company’s operational capacity reaches 10.6 GW gross, or 6.3 GW net, of power generation, alongside 541 million imperial gallons per day of water desalination capacity.
The company said the rebrand underscores its ambition to remain a trusted energy partner as it expands its activities across regional and global markets.
