Ivory Coast Launches 50MW Kong Solaire Solar Project
Ivory Coast has inaugurated the 50MWp Kong Solaire solar project, marking a significant advancement in the country's transition toward renewable energy The solar plant was co-developed by the Private Infrastructure Development Group through its project development arm InfraCo and Ivorian developer Africa Via, with regional energy company Axian Energy joining the consortium earlier this year to strengthen the project's technical and financial foundation

Developed under a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement, the Kong Solaire plant will supply clean electricity to approximately 240,000 people As one of the country's first solar Independent Power Producer projects, it is expected to establish replicable documentation and financial frameworks that can attract new investors and accelerate Ivory Coast's broader renewable energy transition Africa Via CEO Minkaïla Salami highlighted the project's regional development potential while Axian Energy CEO Benjamin Memmi emphasized its role in building a balanced and sustainable energy mix for the country
