Infinity Power Secures Deals to Build 80 MW PV Plants in Ivory Coast

By: Energy capital & power

Renewable energy company Infinity Power has signed two concession agreements with the government of Ivory Coast for the construction and operation of photovoltaic plants with a combined capacity of 80 MW.

These projects are part of Scaling Solar, a World Bank program that helps countries develop grid-connected solar projects through tenders, standardized contracts and financing support.

Located in Touba and Laboa, the plants will be connected to the national grid through 17 km of transmission lines, supplying electricity to more than 400,000 consumers. The plants will help avoid more than 60,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually.

The projects were awarded to Infinity Power following a tender process supervised by the Ivory Coast’s Directorate General for Energy and state-owned CI Energies. The International Finance Corporation, part of the World Bank Group, served as technical and financial advisor to the government.

Marie Chantal Uwanyiligira, Country Director, World Bank, said, “Integrating solar power could lower generation costs and contribute to universal electricity access.”
