By: Energy capital & power

Global development institution the International Finance Corporation (IFC) has signed four agreements with Senegal’s Executive Council for Urban Transport in Dakar (CETUD) to promote urban mobility and reduce emissions in Dakar.

As part of the agreements, the IFC will support CETUD in designing, structuring and competitively bidding four transport-related public-private partnerships.

The first project will include development of a biomethane production plant to convert waste into biofuels for public buses in Dakar. Meanwhile, another project will see the transformation of residential and commercial areas into energy efficient spaces for urban welfare.

The third project will involve the development of a modern traffic light management system that improves traffic flow and safety in Dakar. The final project will address connectivity gaps in the city through the development of a cable car in the city of Diamniadio, enhancing mobility for residents.
