Strategic Joint Venture Formation

Hygreen Energy, a global electrolyzer manufacturer, has established a joint venture called Middle East Electrolysers Company with Saudi Arabia's Green Electrodes Consortium for Industry (GECI). This partnership represents a significant step in localizing high-tech energy solutions in the Kingdom, with the new entity headquartered in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province to serve regional market demands.

Technology Transfer and Capacity Building

The joint venture will focus on transferring Hygreen Energy's proven electrolyzer technologies—including Alkaline, PEM, and AEM systems—to the region while establishing an advanced Research and Development Center. A key component involves training Saudi talent through collaboration with local universities and research institutions, thereby building nationally competitive capabilities and enhancing local content in the energy sector.

Alignment with National Development Goals

This initiative directly supports Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 and National Hydrogen Strategy objectives by accelerating green hydrogen project development. The partnership aims to position the Kingdom as a regional hub for emerging energy industries, including green hydrogen, fertilizer production, and petrochemical sectors, while contributing to the transition toward a low-carbon economy.

Leadership Endorsement and Commitment

Senior executives from both organizations emphasized the strategic importance of this collaboration. GECI's leadership described it as a milestone in localizing energy supply chains, while Hygreen's chairman confirmed Saudi Arabia's selection as their regional base due to its strong industrial foundation and clean energy leadership, committing to substantial investment in R&D and workforce development.

Future Expansion Plans

The partnership has outlined concrete next steps, including developing a comprehensive five-year business plan and long-term strategic roadmap. This will involve identifying suitable industrial sites for future production and research facilities, signaling a sustained commitment to establishing Saudi Arabia as a global hub for clean energy manufacturing and sustainable industrial development.
