GEOCEAN Completes Step in FLNG Mooring System for Congo LNG Project

French marine contractor GEOCEAN has completed a critical step in the installation of a mooring system for a floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) unit offshore Congo. The system is part of Eni’s Congo LNG project in the Marine XII block.
The project included placing a drilling guide template and using divers to check that everything was correctly aligned and safe in the offshore area. This step came after the jack-up barge La Siannawas brought to the site in March 2025 and set up as a stable work platform.
A 57-meter casing weighing 167 tons was delivered to the offshore site by the platform supply vessel. It was positioned in the drilling template to enable the start of drilling and anchor pile installation. With three anchor piles in place, the mooring system’s foundation was completed and ready to support the FLNG unit. Congo LNG began exports in February 2024 using the Tango FLNG unit.
The project includes two FLNG units to be deployed at the Nenè and Litchendjili fields. The second unit, under construction, is expected to start operations by the end of 2025.
