Norwegian developer Empower New Energy announced Wednesday the commissioning of a 1.1 MWp photovoltaic solar power plant for L'Oréal Egypt in the city of 10th of Ramadan.

The installation will produce 1.6 GWh of clean electricity annually, preventing more than 800 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions. This project supports the global cosmetics group's goal to reach 100% renewable energy and reduce its CO2 emissions by 57% by 2030.

Empower utilized an equity financing model, avoiding debt and allowing for rapid project execution from planning to commissioning.

Active in several African markets, Empower New Energy is pursuing a strategy of solar deployment for the industrial and commercial sectors. In June 2025, the company launched the second phase of a solarization program for the Justrite retail chain in Nigeria. In Egypt, it strengthened its presence in December 2024 by signing a $50 million agreement with Engazaat to finance a 40 MW portfolio for industrial and commercial clients.

The commissioning of the L'Oréal plant confirms this momentum and highlights Empower's ability to combine innovative financing with rapid deployment.
