Bahri Chemicals has signed a new Contract of Affreightment (CoA) with base oil producer Luberef to transport the base oils from the Red Sea to the Gulf and India.

Luberef has two production facilities in Yanbu and Jeddah, with the capacity to produce a combined output of 1.3m tonnes of base oils per year. Oil from the facilities will be transported from local ports to destinations across the Arabian Gulf and India’s west coat, said Bahri.

The two Saudi companies said the COA marks the beginning of a strategic partnership and an example of collaboration under the ‘Saudi Inc’ initiative. Bahri Chemicals has a fleet of 50 vessels carrying chemicals, clean products, and vegetable oils. Luberef is the kingdom’s only virgin base oil producer and serves customers in Saudi Arabia, India, and other markets in the Middle East and north African.

Faisal Al Husseini, president of Bahri Chemicals, said: “This agreement with Luberef builds on our long-standing collaboration and reflects Bahri Chemicals’ commitment to delivering reliable, flexible, and customer-first maritime transportation solutions. Together with Luberef, we aim to create long-term value for our customers and contribute to the Kingdom’s economy.”

Eng. Samer A. Al-Hokail, President & CEO of Luberef, said: “This agreement represents another important step in our partnership with Bahri Chemicals toward enhancing the efficiency and resilience of our operations across international markets. We look forward to further strengthening our cooperation to deliver sustainable value to customers and to advance the Kingdom’s standing in the base oil sector.”
