Angola Announces First Oil from Agogo FPSO

Angola’s national concessionaire the National Agency for Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG) and international energy company Azule Energy have announced first oil from the Agogo FPSO. Situated in Block 15/06, the vessel forms part of the broader Agogo Integrated West Hub Development.
Operated by Azule Energy in partnership with Angola’s national oil company Sonangol E&P and China’s Sinopec International, the Agogo FPSO joins the operational Ngoma FPSO to harness resources from the Agogo and Ndungu fields. The addition of the Agogo FPSO will see combined reserves of approximately 450 million barrels and peak production projected at 175,000 barrels per day.
“This new milestone that we have recorded in the Agogo project reinforces our certainty that we have made the right investment in technological innovation and the valorization of Angola‘s natural resources, in an industry where it is essential to combine sustainability, efficiency and inclusion procedures,” stated Paulino Jerónimo, Chairman of the Board of Directors, ANPG.
The Agogo FPSO features full electrification, a pilot carbon capture unit and combined cycle power generation – making it Angola’s first offshore facility with fully offset operational emissions. Developed in just 29 months, the project showcases Angola’s capacity to deliver deepwater oil and gas projects at speed.
“The startup of the Agogo Integrated West Hub project, sanctioned just months after Azule Energy’s formation, represents a defining moment for our company. It demonstrates not only our technical capabilities but also our firm commitment to supporting Angola’s energy landscape. This achievement advances our production goals whilst showcasing our dedication to responsible energy practices through pioneering emission reduction initiatives,” stated Adriano Mongini, CEO of Azule Energy.
