Aksa Energy, Gabon Sign MoU for 1,000 MW Power Plant in Gabon

Aksa Energy has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Gabonese government for the financing, construction and operation of a 1,000 MW gas-fired power plant in the Ngounié Province in Gabon. The agreement was signed in August by Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, Minister of Universal Access to Water and Energy of Gabon.

Aksa Energy will be responsible for the design, financing, construction and operation of the power plant. The facility will be located between Mandji Ndoulou and Fougamou and will be linked to the national grid through a new transmission line to be built as part of the project. The plant is expected to meet rising electricity demand from industrial and domestic consumers and to improve the stability of Gabon’s power supply.

The government said the development forms part of a broader strategy to expand national generation capacity and strengthen the transmission network. It is also expected to contribute to the country’s plans for industrial growth by ensuring a more reliable energy base.
