Skeleton Coast Uranium completes digitization of Namibia data
By: OrePulse
TSX-V-listed Skeleton Coast Uranium Corp has completed the digitisation of decades of historical exploration data across its five uranium prospecting licences in Namibia's Erongo region, the company said, working with advisory firm Practara.
The project consolidated a wide range of records — regional and prospect-scale geological mapping, historical exploration reports, regional airborne geophysics, ground radiometric and geophysical surveys, geochemical sampling data and historical drilling records — into a single, georeferenced dataset. Each document was reviewed and classified by data type, including drilling, geochemistry, geophysics, geology and locality information, and georeferenced wherever the underlying location control allowed. Records that lacked sufficient control were tagged and excluded from the dataset, with the reasons documented, which the company said was intended to create an auditable record of how the dataset was built.
Chief executive Dr. Nathan Chutas said that with the digitisation completed, the company holds, for the first time, the full historical record of the licences in one georeferenced dataset.
The company said it will now use the consolidated dataset to reinterpret historical airborne geophysical data and guide the current field season's exploration work, with priority target areas identified on each of the five licences for upcoming field validation. Namibia is among the world's leading uranium-producing countries, and the digitisation effort is intended to move Skeleton Coast Uranium from desktop analysis toward on-the-ground testing of those priority targets in the coming field season.
