NESR, Aramco agree to develop lithium project in Saudi Arabia
By: Reuters
National Energy Services Reunited NESR.O said its environmental and decarbonization unit had signed an agreement with Saudi Aramco 2222.SE to execute a lithium demonstration project in the kingdom for battery-grade lithium carbonate.
Here are more details:
The project aims to produce 2,000 tons per annum (tpa) of battery-grade lithium carbonate.
It is planned to start in late 2027.
Under the agreement, the project will combine Aramco's subsurface expertise with NESR's LiThara technology platform, which includes brine pre-treatment, direct lithium extraction and carbonation technologies.
Oilfield services company NESR said the project draws on its regional subsurface and field-operations experience in Saudi Arabia, where it operates across the energy sector.
