Impala Platinum forecasts revenue surge after metal price rally

By: Reuters

Impala Platinum (Implats) IMPJ.J said on Friday it expects to report a more than 50% jump in full-year revenue, driven by higher platinum group metal (PGM) prices, output and sales.

The South African miner said in a trading update that its sales revenue is expected to have risen to about 134 billion rand ($8.1 billion) in the year ended June 30, from 85.5 billion rand the previous year.

Prices of PGMs, used primarily in catalytic converters to curb vehicle emissions, recovered during the second half of 2025 following a prolonged slump caused by weak automotive demand.

The price rebound has been driven by investor buying and tight supplies amid slower than expected growth in electric vehicle sales, which do not require emissions controls.

Implats said its total refined output increased 5% to 3.56 million ounces of PGMs, while sales volumes were 3.51 million ounces, up 4% on the previous year.

The company said it will release its annual financial results on September 3.
