Galiano Gold Wins Lease Extensions Securing Asanko Mine Through 2043

Galiano Gold said on October 9, 2026 that it had extended two mining leases underpinning its Asanko gold mine (AGM) in Ghana, pushing the licenses' expiry dates well into the 2040s.

The Abirem mining lease has been extended by 15 years and now runs to 2041, while the Miradani mining lease has been extended by 17 years and now runs to 2043, according to the company.

Both leases cover the Nkran, Adubiaso and Miradani North deposits, the mine's processing plant, which has capacity to treat 5.8 million tonnes of ore a year, and its supporting infrastructure. They also cover Nkran Cut 3, which the company said is central to Asanko's long-term mine plan.

The extensions give Galiano Gold continued operating rights across the core Asanko deposits and processing facilities for 15 to 17 years, depending on the lease. The company did not disclose the financial terms of the renewals.

Matt Badylak, president and chief executive officer of Galiano Gold, said: "We are very pleased with these extensions, which support the execution of our current life-of-mine plan and provide a strong foundation for mineral reserve growth and future mine life extension."

He also credited Ghanaian authorities for their part in the process. "We appreciate the support of the government of Ghana and the positive engagement of the Minerals Commission and Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources throughout this process," Badylak said.

Badylak added that the renewed leases strengthen the company's outlook. "Together, these approvals provide a solid foundation for continued investment, operational certainty, and the creation of long-term value for all stakeholders," he said.
