Blencowe finds graphite outcrops across 25km at Uganda project
By: OrePulse
Blencowe Resources has completed a second phase of exploration at its Orom-Cross graphite project in northern Uganda, reporting graphite outcropping at the surface across a roughly 25-kilometer stretch of ground to the north and south of its existing deposits.
The London-listed company said the program tested geophysical targets that were commissioned for surface mapping and sampling in September, after drilling was completed at the project's Iyan and Beehive deposits. Surface mapping has now covered about 95% of the identified targets, all of which lie within Blencowe's own lease holdings and within 10 kilometers of the project's proposed processing plant site.
Selective grab samples collected from three of the targets, designated GT-02b, GT-03b and GT-04, returned total graphitic carbon (TGC) grades above 20%, Blencowe said. Target GT-04 and most of GT-03b sit fully within the company's exploration licenses, while the majority of target GT-02b falls within its existing mining license.
The newly tested ground lies outside the mine plan used in Orom-Cross's definitive feasibility study (DFS), published in December 2025, which set out an initial 15-year mine life based on four deposits already drilled by the company. Blencowe said the latest results point to further potential beyond that study.
Interim Chief Executive Iain Wearing said the exploration had reinforced the scale of the project. "To date, every geophysical target identified has been marked with significant surface outcropping of graphite," he said. "The presence of potential high-grade zones throughout underlines the quality of this project."
Wearing added that all of the tested areas sit within 10 kilometers of the proposed plant site, and said the company expects "significant newsflow ahead" as exploration work continues.
Blencowe said its immediate priority is securing financing for the first phase of the Orom-Cross project's development, with the latest exploration results intended to support the project's longer-term resource growth.
The second-phase program followed on from drilling at Orom-Cross's Iyan and Beehive deposits, two of the four deposits that underpin the December 2025 DFS. Blencowe said the newly tested geophysical targets, lying both north and south of those deposits but still inside its own license areas, were commissioned for surface work once that drilling campaign was finished. The company said the surface outcropping identified at the targets, together with the above-20% TGC grab-sample results from GT-02b, GT-03b and GT-04, will be assessed as it plans further work beyond the current 15-year mine plan.
