US Approves $445 Million Logistics Support Package for Bahrain’s F-16 Fighters

The U.S. government has authorized a potential foreign military sale to Bahrain worth an estimated $445 million for a logistics support package aimed at maintaining its advanced F-16 Block 70 fighter fleet. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) notified Congress of the proposed sale, which includes spare parts, ground support equipment, and maintenance services provided by contractors such as General Electric Aerospace and Lockheed Martin.

Bahrain is the first international operator of the F-16 Block 70 variant, with deliveries of 16 aircraft having commenced in 2024. Some of these jets are currently undergoing joint testing with the U.S. Air Force to evaluate new technologies, including the Viper Shield electronic warfare system and integration with weapons like the AGM-154 Joint Standoff Weapon.

The U.S. Department of State stated that the sale supports U.S. foreign policy and national security by strengthening a key non-NATO ally, enhancing Bahrain's ability to address regional threats and participate in operations alongside the United States.
