UAE- Al Maktoum Solar Park's clean energy capacity hits 3.86GW in 2025

By: Zawya

Dubai’s Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park advanced significantly in 2025, increasing its installed capacity to 3,860 megawatts (MW) of clean energy. The expansion, which added 800 MW using both photovoltaic and concentrated solar power (CSP) technologies, now represents approximately 21.5% of the total power generation capacity of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA).

This growth supports the emirate’s strategic goals under the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Carbon Neutrality Strategy 2050. The solar park’s capacity target for 2030 has been revised upward from 5,000 MW to over 7,260 MW, reflecting accelerated progress. Clean energy sources are projected to account for about 34% of Dubai’s total power generation capacity within the next five years.

DEWA has also launched the tender for the solar park’s seventh phase, which is expected to add roughly 2,000 MW of solar power integrated with energy storage systems capable of storing 1,400 megawatt-hours. This phase will generate an estimated 8,400 megawatt-hours of storable clean energy, positioning it among the world’s largest solar-plus-storage projects.

The solar park further cemented its global standing in 2025 by setting a Guinness World Record for the highest CSP capacity operated by a single entity, with its fourth phase reaching 700 MW. This achievement highlights the project’s role as a leading platform for advanced clean energy technologies and Dubai’s commitment to a sustainable energy transition.
