Oman Air Cargo creates new Middle East sales role
Oman Air Cargo has strengthened its regional commercial structure with the creation of a new Middle East and Gulf sales leadership role, appointing Gokul Sudamani as Regional Head of Sales.
Based in Dubai, the new position is designed to support the airline’s expanding network and growing regional footprint, with a particular focus on deepening engagement with the freight forwarding community across core Middle East and Gulf markets.
Sudamani brings more than 18 years of air cargo experience, having worked extensively across high-volume and diverse regional markets.
His appointment reflects a broader push by Oman Air Cargo to align commercial capacity with recent investments in network expansion and additional routes.
Regional commercial growth
Speaking on his appointment, Sudamani said Oman Air Cargo was “building strong momentum”, adding that he looked forward to working closely with customers and partners across the region as the airline continues to expand its network and capabilities.
He also underlined the strategic importance of the Middle East and Gulf to the carrier’s cargo business, noting that the region remains central to delivering “flexible, reliable solutions for customers” as trade flows continue to evolve.
The new role is expected to focus on strengthening sales coverage, improving responsiveness to market demand, and supporting forwarders with tailored capacity and routing options as the airline grows its regional and intercontinental connectivity.
A need for senior sales leadership
Sudamani’s appointment follows a series of recent network and capacity investments by Oman Air Cargo, including the launch of new services to Singapore and Kigali.
These additions have extended the airline’s reach into Southeast Asia and Africa while reinforcing its role within established Middle East trade corridors.
Michael Duggan, Head of Cargo at Oman Air, said the creation of the new role reflected the airline’s long-term commitment to the region.
He described the Middle East as “a unique market, acting as a global transit hub while continuing to grow as a destination in its own right”, adding that the expanded sales leadership would support the airline’s evolving hub strategy both globally and regionally.
The appointment comes as regional air cargo markets continue to see structural growth driven by e-commerce, perishables, pharmaceuticals, and cross-continental transit traffic.
Deeper regional engagement
With Dubai serving as a central commercial base, Oman Air Cargo is positioning itself closer to key customers and partners while leveraging Muscat’s role as a strategic cargo hub connecting Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Middle East.
The airline said the new sales structure would help ensure closer alignment between commercial teams and operational planning as additional routes and capacity come online.
Oman Air Cargo will next engage with the regional and international freight community at Air Cargo India, exhibiting in Mumbai from 25 to 27 February 2026.
