Mawani ARASCO agree $53 million Dammam port hub
Saudi Arabia’s ports authority Mawani has signed a SAR 200 million ($53 million) agreement with Arabian Agricultural Services Company (ARASCO) to build a major logistics hub at King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam. The new facility, spanning 40,000 square meters, will focus on bulk grain storage and distribution, supporting national food security objectives.
The hub will feature storage capacity for up to 100,000 metric tonnes of grain, advanced conveyor systems, truck loading infrastructure, and upgraded ship unloading equipment at two berths. The project aims to improve discharge efficiency, reduce vessel turnaround times, and boost port throughput. According to officials, the center will strengthen supply chain resilience and enhance Saudi Arabia’s strategic food reserves.
Aligned with Vision 2030 and the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, the project is expected to generate over 3,000 direct and indirect jobs and attract further private sector investment in logistics. King Abdulaziz Port, with 43 berths and an annual capacity of around 105 million tonnes, is a vital gateway for cargo into the Eastern Province and broader region. This investment is part of a broader push to modernize Saudi port infrastructure, improve connectivity, and support economic diversification.
