MSC’s Africa Global Logistics investing in Tanzania port

By: Sea trade maritime

Africa Global Logistics (AGL), a subsidiary of MSC, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA) to serve as a construction partner for the new Bagamoyo Port. The agreement awards AGL the rights to design, construct, and operate the first three berths of the planned 28-berth facility, with construction expected to commence in early January. The project is part of a larger $2.1 billion development to be carried out in phases.

TPA Director General Plasduce Mbossa stated that the project aims to transform port operations in Tanzania and invited further local and international investment. AGL, which has been increasingly involved in port expansions across Africa, views the strategic location of the Bagamoyo Port on the Indian Ocean as key to unlocking its access to multiple African markets.
