MIDOR Conducts Level 3 Fire Drill to Boost Emergency Preparedness at Alexandria Refinery

By: Egypt oil & gas

A comprehensive Level 3 simulated fire drill has been successfully executed at the Middle East Oil Refinery Company (MIDOR) refinery in Alexandria, reinforcing emergency preparedness and testing the facility’s crisis response systems. The exercise was conducted under the directives of Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi and involved coordination between companies in the Alexandria Petroleum Geographical Zone and the General Directorate of Civil Protection.

The drill served as a practical assessment of the refinery’s evacuation procedures, emergency response times, and occupational health and safety protocols under high-risk scenarios. It aligns with the health, safety, and environment (HSE) pillar of Egypt’s national petroleum strategy.

Minister Badawi emphasized that such regular exercises are essential for maintaining employee readiness and fostering a strong safety culture across the petroleum sector. Officials noted that the smooth coordination demonstrated MIDOR’s adherence to international safety standards and reflected a high level of operational preparedness.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources continues to prioritize safety through ongoing training and simulation exercises, aiming to safeguard both personnel and critical energy infrastructure while ensuring sustainable and efficient operations.
